We come today to offer you our brothers and sisters in Syria
We bring them to your merciful Heart… begging you to give them your peace, which they have lacked for years.
You suffered humiliation and insult
You suffered displacement and expulsion
You suffered fear and terror
These are all experienced by our brothers and sisters in Syria
Is it not time to put end to the road to Golgotha?
You have triumphed by the force of love.
Give us of this strength to triumph over evil and overcome violence.
Give us of this love, to be able to announce with you: “Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do.”
Give us of this love, so we can forgive our oppressors and those who crucify us.
Give us of this strength, the power of love, to sing with the angels the hymn of peace –
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, to people of good will.”
Give us your peace, O Risen One, not as the world gives, but a peace filled with life and joy,
Your peace that heals, your peace that forgives sins, your peace that gives life
“Peace I leave with you… My peace I give you”.
